On a black disc, edged with a narrow gold border, a shield blazoned as follows: Purpure, a saltorel Or; overall a spearhead Argent (Silver Gray).


CREST

An olive branch wreath slipped, leaved and fructed Proper, a lamp Argent (Silver Gray) enflamed Gules; all within a circular black designation band, edged gold with the inscription at top COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND CYBERSPACE and below between two polestars NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY in white.

Symbolism

SHIELD

The shield shape is derived from the National Defense University arms. The saltorel signifies networking and the transmission of information. The spearhead refers to Minerva, the Roman Goddess of wisdom, arts, and strategy. The color black alludes to cyberspace and secrecy. The color purple signifies power, wisdom and ambition. The color gold is associated with excellence, illumination and courage.


CREST

The lamp is a symbol of academic endeavors, and its eternal flame pays tribute to the pursuit of higher learning, illuminating the path forward to knowledge. The olive branch wreath personifies peace. The wreath surrounding the academic lamp suggests peace through education, knowledge and wisdom above all else.
